Broken Embraces Trailer
Broken hearts and broken legs. 30 pounds of cocaine, great ass and great feet. You think I am talking of another Penelope Cruz film. “Blow” perhaps. No! My friends. This Spanish film has all that. Well, in some form or another.

This film tells several stories. One set in 2008 and another set in 1994. And the supporting stories that tie it all together. In the present time Harry Caine (Luis Homar) is a blind screen writer with a past he and his manager dare not speak of. When a ghost from the past rears his head. The memories from 14 years earlier are revealed. Harry Caine was at that time Mateo Blanco. A famous director and working on a comedy. He casted Lena (Penelope Cruz) to play the lead role. Lena is the mistress of a Ernesto Martel (Jose Luis Gomez). Ernesto is the producer and the financial backer for the film. Ernesto asks his son to document the making of the film. Just to insure Lena is not having an affair with Mateo. But eventually the affair is discovered. And Lena and Mateo leave Madrid and the film behind. But Ernesto releases a horrible version of the film to ruin Mateo’s career. While on their hiatus. Lena and Mateo are in a horrific accident. Mateo loses his sight and his love. Thus sparking Mateo to leave that life behind. And become his alias Harry Caine.

There is so much to this film. It would be impossible for me to write it all down. I can say that I never quite enjoyed Miss Cruz. Nor did I ever find her “all that”. But, this film may have changed my mind. This witty, layered, smart and sad film is worth seeing.

Chopper Trailer

This is by far one of my favorite films! Based upon Marc “Chopper” Read’s autobiographical book “From the inside”. This tale of a gangster/jailhouse legend turned Police “street cleaner”. Chopper (Eric Bana) will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Even if that means cutting off his own ears. Fuck Van Gogh! This movie will grab you from the opening moments. Though at times it may be a bit graphic for some. It is necessary to illustrate the shear craziness of the character. The real Marc Read aka “chopper” has gone on to sell millions of books. And has now become some sort of “Rock Star” in Australia. You have to see this film. Remember this is based upon a autobiographical book. Truth can be stranger than fiction. I give this a ear shattering F-YA!!!!!

When it comes to really F-ing with your head. This movie will do it! The visual torment you get watching it in Black&White is enough to give you chills. But, you add in the tension and that moment of silence before the light! And you may lose it! This film follows a young man as he intercepts instructions meant for someone else. As you follow Sebastian(George Babluani) on his maze-like directions. You can’t help to wonder what he got himself into. Upon reaching his destination. Sebastian realizes he is now in a situation he may never live to tell about. Forced to play in a game of Russian roulette as rich socialites bet on their shooter. With each hammer strike of the revolver. You are left trembling. I highly recommend this movie. I give this a massive F-YA!!!!!

Dead man’s shoes

500full-dead-man's-shoes-screenshotDead man’s shoes trailer

This revenged filled slasher film, may leave you teary eyed! Directed by Shane Meadows (This is England). Shane  does a remarkable job. This film follows Richard (Considine) as he hunts down the tormentors of his younger, mentally challenged brother Anthony (Tony Kebbell). As the story develops you find yourself becoming emotionally attached. So, prepare for a bag of mixed emotions. Although the dialogue is bit hard to understand. I still give this film a F-YA!
