I am not quite sure what to say. I usually have some sort of emotion after watching a film. But, not in this case. The acting was good. And the scenery was amazing. But, the rest was lost somewhere. And it certainly wasn’t here.
Will Shepard (Ben Foster) an American map maker. Is on assignment in Armenia. In a local diner Will strikes up a conversation with a young woman. Gadarine (Lubna Azabal) is local woman with a talent at photography. After parting ways that morning. They meet again at a social gathering. When Will is sent to another part of the country. Garadine tags along. And so the love story begins.
I understand where director Braden King was going with this film. But, it moved to slow. It also didn’t develop the characters enough. And it relied to heavily on visual rather than dialogue and content. I would have to give this film a

The Ghost Writer Trailer
While some and I mean most. Hail the works of Roman Polanski. This is not the film to bow to. This is no “Chinatown”.
When “The Ghost” (Ewan MacGregor) is tasked with completing the memoirs of former British Prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan). While Ghost is wisked away to a island somewhere on Americas eastern seaboard. He is confined to that island and kept under close eye. As the former P.M. is alleged to have committed war crimes. The media is in a frenzy to bring Adam Lang to Justice. This untimely event puts the Ghost under further pressure to finish the book to capitalize on this worldwide news coverage. But, as the Ghost gets further into the process. He soon discovers some rather peculiar and uncanny clues to why his predecessor was found dead on the shore. The one reason why The Ghost was brought in to finish the memoirs. What he discovers has far more international repercussions than one can imagine. The Ghost now finds himself in a cat and mouse game with who knows who.
Although this film could have been great. The acting was painfully flat. No emotion. Where emotion was a key character. Sorry Roman. Your day may have passed. Wait for video.

Valentine’s Day Trailer
OK. Lets be honest. This film was packaged way too neatly. Hollywood is losing creativity on a daily basis. So, they decided to grab a few of Hollywood’s best eye candy. Write some fluff of a script. Throw in some flowers, and a clean looking Los Angeles. And put it out on a Hallmark holiday. So, couples can go and share in some fantasy of love and lies. Then leave the theater with questions of “Why don’t you do those things?” echoing in your now coma like existence.
Do I dare give you the storyline? Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy. Boy and girl get heart broken. Then realize they should be together. Add that with some phone sex, a politically correct gay lifestyle, a young love scenario and you have a terrible version of “Love Actually”.
Now, I am fully aware the female viewers will have a different take. But, all in all it was a mediocre film. Ignore the fact that it is Valentine’s Day. The need to show your love on one particular day is absurd. Love should be a running theme in your life everyday. Wait for DVD or forget it exists!

It’s Complicated Trailer
It is not that complicated. Quite honestly. It is very simple. Just watch the trailer and you will get the best parts and the entire story.
I wish I could tell you to go see this film. The cast is star studded. Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Hell, that sounds great. But, don’t be fooled. Alec Baldwin steals the show. He made the film tolerable for me.
The storyline was good. The direction was terrible. It was way too “bright and airy”. The film needed a darker, more emotional side. I find it hard to believe that 20+ year old children. Would crawl in their bed and cry because a divorce of 10+ years is still emotionally draining. Grow the F-up.
If your curiosity gets the best of you. Wait for DVD. Drink some wine, have a pastry. And maybe revisit the reefer!

The Missing Person Trailer
Knowing this film was an official selection into the 2009 Sundance film fest. I thought this would be good. Then when I was asked to screen and review it. I was hoping it would be good. But, unfortunately it was just O.K. The plot was good. A private investigator (Michael Shannon) hired to track down a man. Who was presumed dead following the collapse of the World Trade Center. Sounds like this could go in amazing directions. But, No! Trying to capture the film noir of such great crime movies. It fell a bit short. I say wait till it is on “The Sundance Channel”. I give a WTF rating.

The Final Destination Trailer
Wow! Did I really watch this? What I thought was going to be a wild ride. Turned out to be terrible crash! I have to admit having only watched the first installment of this series. I was expecting a bit more. Former stunt coordinator turned director David R Ellis. Relied to much on effects, rather than emotion. Though some of the ways to die were creative. One clearly struck me as rip off! Those who have read some Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) books. Would have recognized the pool scene. This was so descriptively written in “The Haunted”. That I couldn’t help but feel slighted. Perhaps I am looking at this movie all wrong. Maybe the fact I didn’t watch it in 3-D is why I feel slighted. Or maybe because it was for the fact that it was bad! I will be giving this a F-NO! Although my fellow reviewers may disagree. Clearly it must have some redeeming quality. Hell, it was #1 in the box office 2 weeks in a row.
