21 Jump street Trailer
Being a fan of the 80′s and it’s television shows. I was curious to see how the TV series would translate on the big screen. But, like most TV series turned movie. They tried to make it funnier than the original.
When two young officers are reassigned to and undercover unit. Located at 21 Jump Street. Officers Schmidt and Jenko (Jonas Hill and Channing Tatum) are assigned a case. Their goal is to bring down a high school drug ring.
Overall the movie was entertaining. A little too long in the middle. But, worth checking out. Their are some great cameos from the original cast. I give this film a

Raccoons are so annoying. Life is full of ups and downs. And crazy neighbors are plain f-ing crazy. This dark comedy will leave you in a stitches.
Dr. Jeff Lang (Tobey Maguire) is your typical suburban father. Looking to expand their home for a future child. When the county rejected the plans for the remodel. Jeff and his wife Nealy (Elizabeth Banks) decide to landscape the backyard. After laying the sod. Raccoons tear it apart. This puts Jeff over the edge. Living in a sexless marriage and having his friend Lincoln (Dennis Haysbert) dying. Jeff makes some bad decisions and finds him in a whirlwind of trouble.
This film will allow to laugh at others misfortunes. Entertaing from the start this film deserves a

While we all question relationships. We never know what the future holds. It may be over tomorrow or last for our lives. And how we perceive things is not really what it is. This film explores a relationship in a unique and humorous way.
Sophie (Miranda July) and Jason (Hamish Linklater) are a thirty something couple. The recent discovery of a injured cat. Leads them down the road of adoption and a self reflective look at their lives.
Director and actor Miranda July’s vision is brought to life in a beautiful, witty film. Narrated by a cat. This film leaves you laughing and puzzled. Although this film may be lost on some. It is a fresh take on relationships. I say

We all have a family member. Who is a little left of center. But, may have the greatest approach to life. Or maybe he/she is just a totally stoner with a cosmic connection to the world. Either way we all have dysfunction in our families.
Ned (Paul Rudd) is a local organic farmer. When he sells pot to a uniformed officer. He is arrested. Yes, I said uniformed. Upon release from jail. Ned heads home to his family to get back on his feet. After a short stint living with his mom. Ned can’t take it and moves in with his sister’s family. Ned’s belief in trust and honesty is a blessing and a curse. And as Ned’s honesty and good nature ruins his stay at his sister’s home. He moves on to another sister. As this pattern is repeated. Ned makes a minor slip in his parole. And is jailed again. The reality of losing Ned again. His family finally realizes the positive Ned brings to their lives.
I have to say this film was hilarious and provides us with a good template to live our lives. Do yourselves a favor and see this film when it is released. I give this film a

The Other Guys Trailer
I am not sure what to say about this film. I laughed my ass off. That should be enough to go see it. Goofy and slow at times. But, I did laugh my ass off.
Highsmith (Jackson) and Danson (Johnson) are two hot shot cops who crack all the cases. Make all the arrests and have a celebrity status amongst the media and New York. On the other hand. You have Gamble (Ferrell) and Hoitz (Wahlberg). The other guys. When Highsmith and Danson are killed in the line of duty. There is a shift in the police department. Who is going to fill such big shoes? Certainly not Gamble and Hoitz. But, you never know where heroes come from. And out of nowhere. The case Gamble is working on. Leads to one of the biggest arrests in New York.
The storyline is silly. But, I laughed throughout the movie. And that is why we go to see films that have Will Ferrell. And he didn’t disappoint. I would watch this film again. Just for the quotes.

Going the distance trailer
In another give, take movie weekend. We went to see this film. Although I wasn’t sure what to expect based upon the commercials. I knew it wasn’t going to be great. It looked like the director was trying to film it much like “500 days of Summer”. Which in my opinion was great. But, unfortunately he failed.
The film takes place in New York and San Francisco Bay Area. Garrett (Justin Long) a non-committal relationship junkie. Just broke up with the latest gal. When at a bar to drown his sorrows one more time. He meets Erin (Drew Barrymore). They hit it off and head back to his place. What takes place is your typical romantic comedy cliche’. They fall in love. But, Erin has to go back to Stanford to get her graduate degree. Leaving them in a long distance relationship. Several flights back and forth and some comedy relief from Dan (Charlie Day). Garrett’s roommate. The film follows your typical storyline.
Two things I got from this film. Charlie Day (It’s always sunny in Philadelphia) is comedy gold. And Drew Barrymore is not looking so good these days. I say wait for cable.

The Switch Trailer
Like all relationships. There is give and take. So, when I chose to see “The Expendables” last week. I knew I was due to see a “Chick flick”. When my better half had the flick pick in her court. I knew it was going to be “The Switch”. “Two tickets for the 7:30 showing. Please.”
The film starts 7 years earlier in New York. Where we find Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) and Wally (Jason Bateman) best of friends. Kassie desires to have a baby by artificial insemination. Wally is trying to convince her not to. Stating great cons. But, never confessing his love for her. The best con. Kassie is going through with it. Despite Wally’s objections. She finds herself a donor who matches all the qualities she desires. And has a insemination party. (Don’t ask, Very bizarre). While party is in full swing. Wally gets hammered and stumbles into the restroom. Where Roland’s (Patrick Wilson) sperm is stored. And of course things go wrong. Wally accidentally dumps the fluid down the drain. So, like any rational drunken male would do. He filled the cup with his own seed. The next morning Wally is unaware of his actions. And months pass and Kassie finds herself pregnant. She decides NY is not a place to raise a child. So, she decides to move back to Minnesota.
Fast forward 7 years now. Kassie decides to move back to New York with her son Sebastian (Thomas Robinson). Kassie introduces Sebastian to Wally. And Wally notices some of his quarks in Sebastian. But, still has no idea what he had done 7 years earlier. All the while Kassie is beginning a relationship with Roland. The man who is suppose to be the father. As the time passes. Wally slowly remembers the events of that fateful night. I will leave it there. You figure the rest out. Or go see it.
I must admit. I enjoyed it. I thought both Wally and Sebastian stole the show. If it wasn’t for them. I may not have enjoyed it. It is not an over the top romantic film. Subtle in that department. But, strong on emotions of a father son relationship. Which won me over. So, if your better half chooses this on your date night. Smile and know I give it a

Grown Ups Trailer
Well. I have not been to the show in sometime. And I hate to say this was not a wise choice. But, that is what happens when the movie rust sets in. Bad decisions.
In 1978 a group of friends win a basketball championship. 30 years later. Their coach passes away. Bringing back the coaches only winning team to pay tribute to his life. They rent a lake house. for the weekend. Where 30 years year earlier the coach gave them a speech. That seemed to have an impact on all their lives.
As the weekend unfolds. You are introduced to the characters and all their imperfections. Their desire for a simpler life. And the need for their kids to enjoy an outdoor life and not be glued to T.V and their phones.
The film had some funny parts. But, none that stood out. The underlying message about parenthood is the best part of the film. In all honesty I would wait for DVD. I like Adam Sandler and the entire cast. But, it fell a bit short for me. So, I give it a

Black Dynamite Trailer
Ahhhh Hell Yeah! Bring back “Blaxploitation” films. This is a throw back to the great films of it’s genre. With films like “Superfly”, “Shaft” and “Foxy Brown”. And who could forget the classic “Gayniggers from Outer Space”. Yes, that was a film. “Black Dynamite” brings back the pimpin’, hard hitting lifestyle to film.
When Black Dynamite’s brother is killed by Heroin dealing gangsters. This former C.I.A agent is given his license to kill. Set out to find his brother’s killers. Dynamite stumbles upon a government funded plan. Now Dynamite must stop this diabolical plan.
I absolutely enjoyed this film. It is what it is. A “blaxploitation” film. It pulls no punches or tries to hide that fact. With a stunning cast. Including Arsenio Hall, Tommy Davidson, Brian McKnight and Michael Jai White as “Black Dynamite”. This film is entertaining and laugh out loud hilarious. I want more of these films. I give this a Malt liquor tilting

Stoners beware! This will be the film you buy and keep next to your bong. In case of a need for laughter emergency.
Sitting in a packed theater. Stars of the film a mere popcorn toss away. I kept thinking to myself. “Why is Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody in a stoner film.” When all was said and done. As the crowd cheered and laughed upon the rolling of credits. It all made perfect sense to me. The script as “neck aching funny.”
A high school valedictorian Henry Burke (Matt Bush). Allows himself a break from his strict studies. Of course he was persuaded by his long lost stoner pal Travis(Sean Marquette). As Henry inhaled his first hit ever. You knew it can only get worse. Announced at school the following day. Principal Gordon(Michael Chiklis) was enacting a mandatory drug test. Where if any student failed. It meant expulsion. After hearing this collegiate(scholarship to M.I.T) death sentence. Travis and Henry decide to get the whole high school high. Brownie bake sale baby.
As Travis and Henry begin such a tall order. They first must score the weed. To pull off such a feat. So, like all good plans. They decide to steal from Travis’s drug dealer. Psycho Ed (Adrien Brody). And like all stoner plans. It gets worse around every turn.
I will leave the storyline there. And I will tell you. It is laugh out loud hilarious. Entertaining from start to finish. With some great acting from the star studded cast. So, look for this in theaters sometime this year. I will leave you with one word “WHUT?”
